This show captures Elvis in the middle of his gruelling twenty-five concerts, eighteen days tour of June and July, 1974. We’ve had a total of six shows from this tour, four of which have been soundboards. The tour started in Fort Worth on June 15, preserved on soundboard and available on The Man in White, Vol. 1. Elvis held four shows here in two days before moving on to Baton Rouge, Louisiana—then returning to Texas, this time Amarillo, where he performed in front of 14.000 people, a concert that has just been released on the great FTD label (Rockin' across Texas, CD 1). Five days later, he came to Niagara Falls, New York, where he gave an outstanding Evening Show. Most of the oldies are rushed, as usual, but who can blame the man for being bored with songs he could recite in his sleep? The rest of the repertoire is varied and well performed. It's almost as if Elvis knew he had to deliver against the roaring Falls, and he does. A worthy addition to the collection of any lover of decent audience recordings. If you don't fall into this category, you should settle for one of the soundboards, perhaps the June 28 Milwaukee show issued by Memory Records in 2003, entitled In Dreams of Yesterday.
